31.03.01 – 06.04.01

Whew, zero news anywhere this week.  All I got was two bits
of LiteStep news and that’s it.  It seems that every project is either
in a major reorg or everyone is away doing something else.  It’s so
dry out there I can’t even make up news.

Seeing as nothing else is happening, I figure I’ll use this
opportunity to rant out a bit about things that have been getting on
my nerves lately.

Why is it that people have no clue?  I mean really, what is
so difficult about reading something first, than asking questions?  Is
it too hard to read?  Too much of your precious time?  This isn’t just
related to shells or os’s.  This is in regards to everything.  I work
as tech support for an ISP and it is horrible.  People call in with
questions that could be answered if they had taken the time to click
on the help menu that is supplied with every program.  Most of the time
the help in there is very straight forward and not written for those
who are already familiar with the technology.

Another thing that is getting to me is the poor quality of
service of any mid to large sized company.  Since when did this trend
start??  Isn’t is us that pays your salaries?  Apparently it’s too
much to ask that I can speak to a human who has a higher IQ than a box
full of packing peanuts.  Don’t want to shell out that extra buck an
hour to get someone that thinks for themselves eh?  That will make you
a profit at the end of the year, yup yup.  Keep the customer happy and
they will continue to do business with you.  Treat them to stupid and
clueless support, long holds, poor merchandise, and a cooperate outlook
and say bye bye.  Low prices don’t always keep a customer guys.

One last thing before I let you all go.  I am happy to say here
that after my diddy about there being very limited shell sites out
there, a ton of new ones have popped up.  We at ls2k are now hosting 10
sites.  Not all of them are shell related but quite a few are.  I have
also seen some postings on other sites just starting.  This is great.
We need more of this!!  Keep up the great work!
